The San Jose Sharks will try to push their undefeated start to three games when they visit the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center on Monday at 8 p.
m. ET.
San Jose has won its first two regular-season contests, the first time in franchise history the team has opened a campaign at 2-0-0.
Rookie forward Macklin Celebrini has five assists across those two games, tying Joe Thornton and Vincent Damphousse for the most assists by a Sharks player through the first two games of a season since the franchise joined the NHL in 1991.
Stars Search for First Win
Dallas enters Monday still looking for its first victory after losing its opening two games.
The Stars have scored just one goal in those two contests, a sharp drop from the 3.33 goals per game they averaged last season.
Part of the problem has been a lack of high-danger scoring chances.
Head coach Glen Gulutzan pointed to early-season chemistry issues and poor zone breakouts that kept the team from generating rush chances after Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Nashville Predators.
Top-line forward Wyatt Johnston leads Dallas with 14 shot attempts while averaging 22 minutes and 20 seconds of ice time over two games.
Forward Matt Duchene remains sidelined with a lower-body injury, while San Jose will be without Alex Barré-Boulet and Adam Gaudette.
