The San Francisco Giants open a three-game home series against the Washington Nationals on Monday night at Oracle Park.
Right-hander Logan Webb will take the mound after the team returned from a grueling road trip that ended with a late-night flight.
San Francisco enters the matchup with a 27-39 overall record and a 12-16 mark at home.
The Giants recently completed a 5-5 road trip, capped by a 2-1, 10-inning victory against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday night.
Third baseman Matt Chapman drove in the winning run with an RBI single, boosting confidence in the veteran-heavy roster as the offense seeks consistency.
"Everybody's still believing," Chapman said during a postgame interview. "We started off slow, and it's easy to get down.
Hitting is hard. You can all get in a rut.
But if you believe and you keep grinding ..."
Chapman emphasized the team's resilience. "We have a lot of veteran guys.
We know it's a long season and it shows. We had a tough first month, but we're coming."
Webb Looks to Build on Recent Form
Webb holds a 3-4 record with a 4.25 ERA this season. He has a career 5-1 record and a 4.29 ERA in seven starts against Washington.
Recently, he allowed just one run over 11 1/3 innings across two appearances since returning from a 24-day layoff.
The visiting Nationals carry a 33-33 overall record, including a strong 21-13 mark on the road.
Washington began its six-game Western road swing by winning two of three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks, outscoring them 20-2 in the first two victories before dropping Sunday's finale 5-1.
Outfielder Daylen Lile, one of six Nationals players to homer during the series in Phoenix, expressed pride in the young team's progress.
"I'm proud for the team and where we are," Lile said, "because I know a lot of people had doubts about us, especially as young as we are.
I feel like we're shutting a lot of people up. Hopefully, we can continue that."
Right-hander Miles Mikolas is scheduled to start for Washington, bringing a 1-5 record and a 6.39 ERA.
Mikolas previously pitched four shutout relief innings against San Francisco in a 3-0 home win in April, and holds a career 5-1 record with a 2.91 ERA across 11 appearances against the Giants.
Monday's game marks the fourth meeting between the two teams this year. San Francisco won two of three games in Washington this past April.
