Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen revealed that rookie Travis Hunter is using an expanded virtual reality room to simulate live game action as he recovers from a torn lateral collateral ligament.

The specialized facility, located at the team's headquarters, allows Hunter to replicate on-field experiences from a defensive back's perspective while he undergoes physical rehabilitation.

"The virtual room has been really good for Travis to be able to go in there," Coen said.

"We expanded that room downstairs to make it one big room, and man, you can go in there and essentially play a game like almost from the defensive back's perspective."

Coen explained that Hunter can complete a full simulated game in about 30 minutes, focusing on alignment, assignment, making calls, and adjusting to formations.

"Right now, you're not going to be able to get a ton of all the routes and how they play out, but alignment, assignment, making calls, adjustments to formations has been so valuable to him," Coen added.

Hunter, who was selected second overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, suffered the season-ending injury during a practice session on October 30.

The setback limited his rookie campaign to just seven games.

To compensate for lost on-field reps, Hunter completes multiple virtual sessions lasting 25 to 30 minutes each day, accumulating mental repetitions ahead of his medical clearance.

"That's accumulating a ton of reps that he's not going to be able to get until he's cleared to go," Coen said.
