Hollywood is revisiting two beloved franchises.
Actor Rob Lowe confirmed during a June 2026 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show that a script for a sequel to the 1985 cult classic "St. Elmo's Fire" is in development.
Lowe expressed strong enthusiasm about revisiting the film, which follows a group of recent college graduates adjusting to adulthood and became a defining piece of Brat Pack cinema.
"I'm trying to get it done, but I'm excited," Lowe said.
"I think the reason that 'St. Elmo's' continues to mean a lot to people is because it's such a great snapshot of your 20s."
Last year marked the film's 40th anniversary, prompting Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures to release a newly remastered 4K version in select theaters nationwide.
"Everyone wants to do it," Lowe said regarding cast interest. "We just need to get the script right, and that's what we're working on."
Lowe remains busy outside the project, hosting the game show "The Floor," his podcast "Literally! With Rob Lowe," and serving as an ambassador for cancer clinical trials.
Meanwhile, Mike Myers confirmed that a fourth "Austin Powers" film is officially moving forward.
The news follows a reunion of Myers, Seth Green, Mindy Sterling, and Lowe for a Verizon commercial set in Dr. Evil's volcanic lair.
"Had a delightfully EVIL time getting this band back together!
We'll have to do it again soon mwah-hah-hah-hah #austinpowers," Myers captioned an Instagram post showing the actors in character.
The commercial, which satirizes mobile phone pricing, quickly gained traction online, accumulating over 200,000 likes across social media within days.
"My heart is so full," one fan wrote. Another commented, "Wonderful, nostalgic."
A third added, "My god, I've missed this."
The reunion fueled speculation about the long-dormant comedy series. During a FIFA World Cup digital livestream hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, Myers confirmed the sequel.
"Are we ever going to see an Austin Powers 4?" Noah asked.
"Yes," Myers responded immediately, catching Noah by surprise.
Noah later noted a viewer suggestion that Myers' 14-year-old son, Spike, could play the next generation of the spy character.
