A study by Sheffield Hallam University found that last year's event generated £167 million in UK economic activity, ranking second only to Wimbledon among UK sporting mega-events.
Silverstone Chief Executive Stuart Pringle said the venue could potentially surpass Wimbledon in economic impact, though he noted that Wimbledon spans two weeks while the Grand Prix is a four-day event.
Pringle emphasized the importance of maintaining fan experience and providing value for money, acknowledging that ticket prices are high but comparable to other major races.
The circuit previously faced financial losses and infrastructure challenges, including traffic issues in 2000 and 2012, as well as expensive contract terms under former F1 management.
Pringle credited the global surge in Formula One popularity for aiding the circuit's recovery and growth, stating that the sport's increased popularity has strengthened Silverstone's product.
Silverstone activated a contract break clause in 2017 to renegotiate terms and has diversified into a year-round attraction with a hotel, kart track, and entertainment options.
