BC Hydro utility crews are addressing multiple unplanned power outages affecting 9,612 customers in Richmond on Friday, July 3, 2026, while simultaneously organizing extensive scheduled maintenance blackouts throughout the Cariboo region.

com, five separate electrical disruptions in Richmond span from Bridgeport to Ironwood, leaving thousands of residential and commercial properties without power while utility personnel investigate the cause.
The largest Richmond outage impacts 3,812 customers east of Citation Drive, south of Bridgeport Road, north of Steveston Highway, and west of No. 7 Road.
Another disruption south of Bridgeport Road affects 2,876 customers, while a third outage cuts electricity to 1,868 properties between Cambie Road and the Fraser River.
Additionally, 931 accounts lack electricity south of Maddocks Road, and 125 customers are affected along the 10800 block of No. 5 Road.
BC Hydro has not provided an estimated restoration time for the Richmond area as crews remain en route.
Planned Maintenance in Cariboo Region
Separately, planned maintenance operations will trigger a 12-hour blackout on July 4 from 7 a. m.
to 7 p. m.
for roughly 1,600 customers between southern Quesnel and northern Williams Lake, including McLeese Lake, Soda Creek, 150 Mile House, Big Lake, Horsefly, and Likely.
Northern BC Community Relations Coordinator Dave Mosure explained that utility workers will service a major transmission line and its three connected substations, specifically Marguerite, Gavin Lake, and Soda Creek.
"BC Hydro is doing some necessary maintenance work on the big transmission line that feeds the area and we’re taking advantage of that and doing a bunch of maintenance within the three sub stations that are fed by that transmission line," Mosure said.
"It’s necessary work, we know there’s no good time for a power outage but we do need to maintain the system."
Mosure stated that the scheduled work will affect approximately 1,600 customers across multiple communities, noting that notifications have been distributed via automated phone calls, emails, or postcards.
"All customers should have received a notification of some sort.
That could be an automated telephone call, it could be an email, or it could be an old fashion post card in the mail," Mosure added.

According to reports from the Williams Lake Tribune, BC Hydro has outlined additional localized maintenance outages across the Cariboo region through early July 2026.
A pole replacement in 100 Mile House affected 33 customers on June 29, followed by an outage for 30 customers in Quesnel on June 30.
Further scheduled infrastructure work in Quesnel will disrupt service for 89 customers on Flamingo Street and Lark Avenue on July 6, followed by two separate maintenance outages on Alma Road and Blackwater Road affecting 14 total customers on July 7.
Quesnel operations will conclude with sequential outages affecting eight customers on Pinnacles Sub Road on July 8 and July 9, alongside a 12-customer disruption on Glassford Road on July 8.
