Middlesbrough's first-team squad arrived in Portugal on Sunday and began a week-long warm-weather pre-season training camp on Monday to prepare for the upcoming Championship campaign.
Manager Kim Hellberg is leading a depleted squad at the Campus in Quinta do Lago after the recent departures of Hayden Hackney and Dael Fry.
Several under-21 players have joined the senior group to fill the gaps.
Midfielder Aidan Morris was granted extra time off but is expected to join his teammates directly on the Algarve.
Riley McGree and Tommy Conway remain sidelined with injuries sustained last term.
New forward signing Myles Peart-Harris traveled with the squad following his transfer last week. He highlighted the influence of first-team coach Adi Viveash on his move.
Peart-Harris said his past relationship with Viveash at the Chelsea academy strongly motivated his decision to join the club.
"Adi was there when I was a young kid. He was managing the older age group.
I think I would have been about 14 or 15 at the time," Peart-Harris said.
The 23-year-old forward noted that the coach noticed his physical transformation since their last meeting.
"He was quite shocked at how much I've grown and stuff like that. But I'm delighted to work with him and delighted that he's here," Peart-Harris said.
Peart-Harris emphasized his desire to continue learning under Viveash's guidance. "Knowing he was here helped me make the decision to come here.
I think he can play a massive role in my development. That's important to me," he said.
Meanwhile, a recently departed player discussed his decision to transition to a new club challenge. He mentioned a positive introductory meeting with his new manager via Zoom call.
"There was a lot of interest, and I obviously spoke to the manager on a Zoom call and that went really well.
I like how he spoke and learning the ambition from the club – that's what drove me towards coming here," said the former Middlesbrough player.
The player reflected on leaving his boyhood club after nearly two decades to find extra motivation elsewhere.
"I have been at Middlesbrough since the age of seven and played all the way through. I'm 28 now and it was my first medical.
It's a new start for me, a fresh challenge and I think I'll get an extra ten per cent out of myself," he said.
Alongside the team's preparations, Middlesbrough unveiled four new Castore kits to mark the club's 150th anniversary. The kits feature a newly rebranded club crest.
The main home, away, and third kits are available for pre-order from July 7 until July 10.
A special limited-edition navy blue anniversary kit will launch in October for a designated celebration fixture against Wolves.
