A former reality television star has been sentenced for masterminding the theft of exclusive sneakers valued at approximately 200,000 euros.
The Den Bosch district court handed down the sentence on Monday, July 6, 2026, to 35-year-old Alex M.
, who appeared on the show Temptation Island.
Sophisticated Heist
The court found that M. orchestrated the October 2021 heist targeting the online marketplace StockX in Veldhoven.
He tricked a friend's transport company into lending him a truck and driver under the pretense of helping a woman move, then redirected the vehicle to intercept a shipment of 900 pairs of high-end sneakers.
Judges noted that M.
played an "initiating role" by managing logistics, directing the driver, and transferring the stolen goods into another vehicle in Den Bosch.
The court stated that M. "swindled the company in a sophisticated and bold manner by posing as a bona fide transporter."
Sentence and Compensation
M. received 160 hours of community service and a two-month suspended prison sentence.
Although prosecutors sought jail time, the court opted for a suspended sentence due to significant delays in legal proceedings, which took nearly five years to reach a verdict.
The stolen sneakers have not been recovered.
The court rejected a 211,195 euro compensation claim from StockX, ruling that the company must pursue civil litigation against M.
to recover damages.
Driver's Role
The 41-year-old truck driver, Steef N. , was declared guilty but received no penalty.
The court ruled that the driver should have realized the situation was suspicious, noting that he "allowed himself to be used by others for their criminal activities" instead of contacting law enforcement.
