Today host Dylan Dreyer revealed a painful personal experience during an appearance on the podcast The Parent Chat on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
She disclosed that she had suffered a miscarriage while on a group vacation with friends, keeping both the pregnancy and the loss a secret from those around her.
Dreyer described the emotional contrast of being surrounded by happy vacationers while dealing with her internal distress.
"I've suffered one miscarriage, and I remember, we were kind of on a group vacation," she shared.
"So, there was just like a lot of people around, and everybody's happy, everybody's on vacation."
The television host recalled adopting specific behaviors to conceal her situation, such as pretending to drink alcohol.
"Hiding the fact that I was pregnant," she said, adding that she also hid the miscarriage itself.
"I remember also hiding the fact that I was, in addition to hiding the fact that I was pregnant, dealing with this miscarriage.
And I'm surrounded by people."
Dreyer emphasized the deep loneliness she felt while navigating the medical event in public.
The emotional weight was compounded by intense physical symptoms that she felt unable to discuss with the group.
"I'm crying in my bed in so much pain, because no one really tells you how painful, physically painful, it is," she continued.
"And I'm like, 'Man, I wish I could share this with someone,' and you can't always do that."
The conversation also included The Viall Files hosts Natalie Joy and Nick Viall, who shared their own experiences with pregnancy loss.
Joy, who went through three miscarriages before giving birth to twin girls earlier this year, spoke publicly to offer support.
"How do I talk pop culture, like things that [I don't care], you know, like this is just real life things that are happening to me and I can't go on this show and act like they're not," she said.
The couple expressed deep gratitude for their family after enduring multiple losses.
"It's been an emotional journey starting with multiple miscarriages, but we are so grateful to have our rainbow babies," said Nick Viall and Natalie Joy.
Dreyer is a mother to three sons—Cal, 9, Ollie, 6, and Rusty, 4—whom she shares with her former husband Brian Fichera.
She filed for divorce earlier this year following their separation last year.
