Linda Noskova secured her first Grand Slam semifinal appearance by defeating Elise Mertens 6-3, 7-5 in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Czech player completed the straight-sets victory in 1 hour and 50 minutes at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Noskova is the youngest woman to reach a debut Major semifinal at Wimbledon since Petra Kvitova achieved the feat in 2010.

The win also gives Noskova a 1-0 head-to-head advantage over the 25th-seeded Mertens after their first career meeting.

"The feelings are incredible, like never before," Noskova said during her on-court interview.

She admitted to feeling nervous before the match but used that tension to fuel her performance.

"I was a little bit nervous before the match, I'm not going to lie.

Usually when it's really, really important for me and I'm putting a little bit of pressure on myself, that's when I play the best," she said.

Noskova added that feeling nervous means she cares a lot, and she enjoyed the match.
