Neon has released the official trailer for the upcoming stoner comedy film The Wrong Girls.
The movie stars Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat as two broke, codependent best friends navigating a chaotic case of mistaken identity.
The feature film marks the directorial debut of writer-director Dylan Meyer, who is also Stewart's partner.
It is produced through Nevermind Pictures, Point Grey Pictures, and Savage Rose Films.
According to the official synopsis, "Two codependent best friends living paycheck to paycheck, and bong rip to bong rip, get caught in a case of mistaken identity that throws their lives into chaos."
The plot follows Frankie, played by Stewart, and Molly, played by Shawkat.
They discover a mysterious substance in the green room of a live music venue, leading to bizarre events including an encounter with a talking cat named Dio voiced by Seth Rogen.
Ensemble Cast and Release Date
The ensemble cast also features LaKeith Stanfield as Not Metal Head Dave, Kumail Nanjiani as GG, Tony Hale as Martin Flynn, Geena Davis as Dr. Olsen, Kate McKinnon as Dr. Chapman, and Cate Blanchett as Deep Sea Expert.
The Wrong Girls is scheduled to be released exclusively in theaters on August 14, 2026.
