The US military has ramped up operations against Iran following heightened tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian forces claimed to have closed the vital waterway, prompting a strong response.
US Central Command (Centcom) reported that the latest wave of attacks began Sunday at 9pm GMT, aimed at degrading Iran's ability to target civilian shipping.
President Donald Trump said the strikes were meant to hold Iranian forces accountable, stating, "We're beating them up."
Iran retaliated by targeting US military facilities across the Gulf and reiterated its claim of closing the strait.
Despite the violence, Centcom noted that some ships continued to navigate through the waterway.
Escalation in Strikes
Centcom revealed that approximately 140 strikes were executed against Iranian targets on Saturday night alone, marking a significant escalation.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed to have struck targets in Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar.
The Iranian foreign ministry condemned the US attacks, asserting they had "rendered futile all efforts of the past few months to reduce tension and establish peace in the West Asian region."
The ministry accused the US of exacerbating insecurity in the strait.
