The next-generation Skoda Octavia is shaping up to be a bold departure from its predecessors.
Previewed by the Vision O concept at last year's Munich Auto Show, the new model is expected to adopt a fully electrified lineup.
Unofficial reports suggest the concept will evolve into the fifth-generation Octavia. The current fourth-generation model is nearing the end of its lifecycle, with a third facelift imminent.
Design: Modern Solid Meets Aerodynamic Efficiency
Illustrations by Josh Byrnes for Carscoops reveal a cleaner, more contemporary look. The traditional grille is replaced by a smoother fascia, reminiscent of Audi's China-exclusive models.
A sculpted bonnet and sharply defined front guards emphasize a wider stance.
The long-roof silhouette retains the Combi's practical roots but gains a longer wheelbase, stronger shoulder lines, and a lower roofline.
At the rear, illuminated 'SKODA' lettering spans the tailgate between T-shaped taillights, mirroring the Vision O concept.
Interior: Minimalist with Physical Controls
The cabin could borrow heavily from the Vision O concept.
A pillar-to-pillar display similar to BMW's Panoramic Vision, a large floating central touchscreen, and minimalist styling are expected.
Physical buttons for key climate and drive functions will remain. AI-enhanced voice controls, over-the-air updates, advanced navigation, and Level 2+ driver assistance are likely.
Skoda's trademark clever storage solutions, an umbrella, and generous rear seating and cargo space will also be featured.
Powertrains: Electric and Range-Extended Hybrid
The Octavia is expected to ride on Volkswagen Group's new Scalable Systems Platform (SSP).
This marks the biggest transition for the nameplate, with full-electric and range-extended hybrid (EREV) options.
The 800-volt architecture could support single or dual-motor configurations, producing from 200 hp to over 400 hp in future vRS models.
Battery capacity is tipped at 80-100 kWh, with a WLTP range exceeding 435 miles (700 km).
The EREV variant uses a small petrol engine as a generator, offering a combined range of 620 miles (1000 km).
Rivals and Reveal Timeline
The next Octavia will compete with the Volkswagen ID.
7 Tourer, Peugeot E-308 SW, Opel Astra Sport Tourer, BYD Seal 06 DM-i, NIO ET5, and Mazda 6e.
Skoda is expected to unveil the production version in late 2027 or early 2028. The Combi (wagon) will launch first, followed by the hatchback.
