Vanguard has launched a new targeted support service for first-time investors on its UK Personal Investor platform, effective July 27, 2026.
The asset management giant also disclosed a $50 million increase in its holdings of Strategy, the Bitcoin-heavy corporate treasury firm.
The guidance tool, which received regulatory approval in April 2026, offers tailored account recommendations and fund suggestions at no extra cost.
It aims to help individuals who struggle with starting their investment journeys.
Company estimates indicate that UK citizens hold roughly £218 billion in excess cash savings beyond routine expenses and emergency funds.
Vanguard's research shows that many savers lack confidence in investing.
"We know that many savers lack confidence when it comes to investing," said Liz Waldron, head of client experience and product at Vanguard.
"Around 70% say they don't feel confident in their investment knowledge and nearly two thirds (58%) say they feel unsure about how to get started."
The company found that one in five users drops out of the individual savings account (ISA) sign-up process when asked to select a specific investment.
"For many, investing feels complex, time-consuming or simply too risky," Waldron added.
To simplify decision-making, the online questionnaire directs users toward ISA or SIPP accounts.
It recommends LifeStrategy funds for general investing and Target Retirement funds for pension planning, alongside educational interactive prompts.
"Our targeted support service is designed to remove some of those barriers by helping people take the first step with confidence," Waldron said.
"It provides clear, simple investment suggestions based on a person's circumstances."
Survey findings from Vanguard's inaugural British Money Mindset report revealed that 68% of non-investors plan to start investing soon, rising to 91% among Generation Z respondents.
The service incorporates "learning moments" to help users understand long-term investing and compounding.
Financial Conduct Authority figures show that only 9% of the UK population currently receives regulated financial advice, leaving millions reliant on guidance solutions.
"We believe confidence comes from understanding," Waldron said.
Expanded Strategy Shareholdings
Concurrently, institutional portfolio updates indicate Vanguard added 529,105 shares of Strategy to its index portfolios.
This brings its total position to approximately 10.5 million shares valued at $993.5 million.
Despite blocking direct purchases of spot Bitcoin ETFs on its brokerage platform, Vanguard holds the stock through passive index tracking.
This indirectly exposes its fund holders to the world's largest corporate Bitcoin treasury balance sheet.
