New York Yankees catcher Ali Sanchez hit his first career major league home run on July 27, 2026, during a 9-5 road victory against the Chicago White Sox.
The 29-year-old launched a three-run homer to left field in the eighth inning, breaking open a tight 6-4 contest.
Sanchez celebrated as he rounded first base, reaching the milestone in his 74th career game and 181st major league plate appearance.
Journey to the Majors
Sanchez originally signed with the New York Mets as an international free agent and made his major league debut in 2020.
He was later designated for assignment and claimed by the St. Louis Cardinals, appearing in two games in 2021 before spending three seasons on minor league contracts.
After playing a career-high 31 games for the Miami Marlins in 2024 and splitting time between the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox organizations in 2025, Sanchez signed with the Yankees in December 2025.
Following the game, team staff retrieved the souvenir baseball to commemorate his first major league home run after more than six years in professional baseball.
