Major League Baseball franchises are finalizing their strategies ahead of the official trade deadline set for Monday, August 3, 2026, at 6 p.
m. ET.
With just two days remaining, the Detroit Tigers' Tarik Skubal, a back-to-back American League Cy Young winner, tops the list of available players.
Any roster additions submitted after the deadline will be ineligible for playoff play.
Key Trade Candidates
Other notable trade candidates include San Francisco Giants infielder Luis Arraez, New York Mets starter Freddy Peralta, San Diego Padres closer Mason Miller, and Detroit pitcher Casey Mize.
Mets reliever Luke Weaver and Giants pitcher Robbie Ray are also under discussion, according to USA TODAY Sports.
Orioles' Stance on Rutschman
Baltimore Orioles General Manager Mike Elias expressed appreciation for injured catcher Adley Rutschman before a game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
"We love him. You feel it when he's gone from the team," Elias said.
Rutschman is expected to begin a rehabilitation assignment for left wrist inflammation early next week, as Baltimore balances its playoff position.
"Absolutely love Adley and having him as long as we can," Elias added.
Given the team's 53-56 record, Elias stressed the need for flexibility in trade talks.
"But, as I mentioned, I think we put ourselves in a position where we've got to be pretty open-minded here as we go into these (deadline) talks.
But Adley is one of the best things we have going for us," he said.
Braves and Mets Moves
In the National League East, the Atlanta Braves have posted a 24-25 record since June, following rotation injuries to Spencer Schwellenbach and Spencer Strider.

Cornerstone shortstop Francisco Lindor remains off the trading block.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies are seeking upgrades for the back of their rotation and outfield depth, with front office head Dave Dombrowski navigating a depleted farm system.
