Buick has officially opened orders for the fully electric Electra L7 in China, a sedan that combines striking performance with a surprisingly accessible price tag.
The entry-level model starts at $25,170 (¥169,900) and is offered in three trims, all featuring a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 378 hp (282 kW / 383 PS) and 282 lb-ft (382 Nm) of torque.
Performance and Range
With this powertrain, the Electra L7 can sprint from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 5.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h).
Power comes from an 80.6 kWh battery supplied by CATL, which delivers up to 436 miles (702 km) of range on a single charge.
When it's time to recharge, the 6C ultra-fast charging system can add 280 miles (450 km) of range in as little as 10 minutes.
The battery also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), providing up to 6 kW of external power—perfect for camping trips or powering appliances on the go.
Design and Features
The Electra L7 retains the design of the range-extended model, but Buick has introduced two new colors: Stardust Green and Cherry Blossom Pink.
Standard equipment includes 19-inch wheels, flush-mounted door handles, and frameless doors with acoustic front glass.
Inside, the base 702 Luxury trim boasts a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch infotainment system, and a 25-speaker audio system.
Comfort features include perforated leather seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, a heated steering wheel, starlight wood grain trim, and ambient lighting.
The cabin also offers tri-zone climate control and a 50W wireless smartphone charger.
Driver assistance systems come standard, including Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking, along with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The mid-level 702 Luxury, priced at $27,689 (¥186,900), adds fancier taillights, a fragrance diffuser, an air quality monitoring system, a digital rearview mirror, a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display, and an interior camera with facial recognition.
It also features the "magic carpet" chassis and the Xiao Yao Zhi Xing semi-autonomous driving system, which uses Lidar, three millimeter-wave radars, seven cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and four 360-degree surround view cameras.
This system enables City Navigation Assist, High-Speed Navigation Assist, Automatic Parking Assist, and Remote Parking Assist, and can navigate complex intersections and roundabouts autonomously.
At the top of the range, the 702 Avenir starts at $30,652 (¥206,900) and is distinguished by special lighting units, self-closing doors, and unique 19-inch turbine-style wheels.
Inside, it features Nappa leather seats, higher-quality materials, a 27-speaker premium audio system, and a rear climate control display.
