Sixth-seeded Leylah Fernandez advanced to the Singapore Open quarterfinals by defeating American Alycia Parks 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 16 on Wednesday.
The Canadian's win sets up a quarterfinal clash with top seed Mirra Andreeva of Russia.
For Fernandez, the result avenges her previous meeting with Parks, who had eliminated her in the opening round of the French Open.
Parks, ranked 70th globally, came into the match after a straight-sets win in her Singapore opener.
Service dominance and break point efficiency
Fernandez controlled her service games, winning 71 percent of her first-serve points compared to Parks' 59.3 percent.
She also converted five of her seven break point opportunities against the American.
The Singapore Open marks a key stop on the fall hardcourt schedule after the US Open.
Ranked in the top 35, Fernandez is aiming to move back toward the top 20 after a challenging 2026 season.
Her quarterfinal opponent, Andreeva, previously faced Fernandez earlier this summer at the National Bank Open in Toronto, where the Canadian scored an upset victory in the third round.
