Costco membership benefits stretch well past bulk groceries into services such as discounted fuel, travel packages, restaurant gift cards, and lifelong tire maintenance, according to company information and news reports.
Members who fill up at Costco gas stations can trim overall household expenses and check real-time fuel prices through the retailer's mobile app.
Station pump hoses are extended so they reach vehicle tanks on either side.
"Whether your gas tank is on the left or right side of your car, you can choose the shortest line," Costco's website reads.
Executive Tier and Travel Rewards
Upgrading to an Executive membership costs $130 annually, compared with the $65 standard tier.
The upgrade yields a 2 percent annual reward capped at $1,250, requiring $3,250 in eligible spending to balance the extra fee.
Executive accounts also offer earlier warehouse access starting at 9 a. m.
at participating locations, plus added discounts on select services.
Travel bookings for vacation packages, cruises, and rental cars earn the same 2 percent reward once travel is completed.
Subscribers can also buy third-party gift cards at discounted rates for entertainment, dining, and travel activities.
"Costco offers deals like two $50 gift cards for $79.99 or four $15 gift cards for $44.99," Linda Chavez, founder and CEO of Seniors Life Insurance Finder, told Real Simple.
"These offers make stocking up on gift cards for Christmas or birthdays a breeze," she added.
"Gift cards for movie theaters, theme parks, performances, activities and more are also available."
Tires purchased through Costco Auto Centers include free lifetime rotation, balancing, air pressure checks, and flat repairs.
