New York Giants edge rusher Brian Burns is awaiting MRI results after suffering a right knee injury in Sunday's 12-7 home win over the Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium.
The injury occurred in the fourth quarter with 11:02 remaining as Burns pursued Titans quarterback Cam Ward.
The 28-year-old defensive end buckled his right knee without intense physical contact, then slammed the turf in frustration.
Teammates Aaron Stinnie and Andrew Thomas helped him off the field, and trainers took him straight to the locker room.
Harbaugh Outlines Next Steps
Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters after the victory that the team hoped to schedule an MRI for Burns that night.
"And then Brian Burns will get an MRI hopefully tonight. We're trying to get that scheduled for tonight.
There is some hope there, but we won't know until we see the MRI," Harbaugh said.
Burns had entered the game listed as questionable, dealing with a sprained left ankle that kept him out of practice all week.
He was used primarily on pass-rush snaps and helped the defense build a 12-0 lead through three-plus dominant quarters.
His exit adds concern for a pass rush that had recorded just one sack over the first two weeks of the season.
The team remains cautious following recent medical setbacks, including a season-ending knee injury to quarterback Jaxson Dart after earlier optimism about his condition.
Burns posted a career-high 16.5 sacks last season and had maintained a 36-start streak since joining the franchise in 2024 without missing a game.
