Meta Platforms has appointed CJ Desai, former CEO of MongoDB, as its chief enterprise platform officer to lead a new business unit focused on enterprise solutions.
Desai, who joined MongoDB as CEO less than a year ago, will head the Meta Enterprise Platform and report directly to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The new platform will initially focus on tools including the Muse agent, a business agent, and a coding tool, aiming to leverage Meta's advanced AI models and infrastructure.
The announcement caused MongoDB shares to fall 25%, while Meta's stock declined about 4%, as reported by CNBC.
MongoDB Leadership Transition
The MongoDB board appointed Dev Ittycheria, the previous CEO before Desai, as interim president and CEO after Desai's departure.
Desai took over as MongoDB CEO from Ittycheria, who had led the company for 11 years, in November 2025.
Prior to MongoDB, Desai was president of product and engineering at Cloudflare.
