Australia trimmed New Zealand's lead to 17-14 in the first half of the 2026 Bledisloe Cup Test at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday, October 10.

Harry Wilson scored a try after a break by Ben Donaldson, and Ryan Lonergan's conversion brought the Wallabies within three points.

The Australian response came after New Zealand had built a 17-7 advantage through tries by Peter Lakai and Tupou Vaa'i, plus a Damian McKenzie penalty.

Australia had opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Tom Wright crossed for a try, converted by Lonergan, for a 7-0 lead.

New Zealand hit back five minutes later as Lakai finished a move started by McKenzie, who broke through the defensive line after the hosts regained possession from a kick.

McKenzie's conversion leveled the score at 7-7.

The All Blacks moved ahead in the 16th minute when Vaa'i stretched over to score after sustained pressure near Australia's goal line, and McKenzie converted for a 14-7 lead.

McKenzie added a penalty goal in the 33rd minute after Australia was penalized at a defensive breakdown, extending the margin to 17-7.

Australia's comeback gained momentum in the 37th minute when Donaldson broke through the New Zealand defense and set up Wilson to score under the posts.

Lonergan converted to reduce the deficit to 17-14.

The Wallabies faced a potential setback when center Len Ikitau left the field in the 31st minute for a head injury assessment.

Harry Potter entered on the wing, while Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii moved into the centers, according to ABC News' live updates.

New Zealand had chances to extend its lead but also made errors, including knocking the ball on while attacking Australia's goal line in the 30th minute.

Earlier, Lonergan missed a penalty attempt in the 25th minute, leaving the 14-7 score unchanged.

Australia later received another penalty opportunity after a breakdown infringement by the All Blacks, but the visitors' scoring progress depended on their attacking execution.

The contest opened with Australia seeking to end a 40-year winless run at Eden Park against New Zealand.

Before kickoff, the teams performed their national anthems, and the All Blacks completed the Haka led by Rieko Ioane, as reported by ABC News.
