Cupra appears to be developing a hotter version of the Terramar crossover. Spy photographers caught a prototype undergoing testing at the Nürburgring.

The crossover was transported to and from the track on a trailer, covered during transit. However, at the Ring, it ran undisguised.

Visually, the mystery model looks nearly identical to the standard Terramar, which shares its platform with the VW Tiguan.

Closer inspection reveals lightweight wheels and a high-performance braking system with red Cupra-branded calipers.

A lightly revised rear end features a visible four-tailpipe exhaust system. These cues point to a new performance variant.

For reference, the standard Terramar offers a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 148 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.

A 2.0-liter TSI engine produces 262 hp and 295 lb-ft.

There's also an eHybrid plug-in variant with a combined 268 hp and an electric-only WLTP range of up to 75 miles.

While it's too early to confirm, the prototype could be equipped with an upgraded 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing around 329 hp.
