The Miami Marlins have acquired outfielder Rece Hinds from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Zach McCambley, the teams announced on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The move came four days after Cincinnati placed Hinds on waivers to clear a 40-man roster spot for P.

Hinds made a strong impression during his MLB debut in 2024, earning National League Player of the Week honors after hitting five home runs in his first six games.

Despite his major league difficulties, Hinds has performed well at Triple-A since 2025, showing strong defense, a powerful arm in right field, plus speed, and raw power.

In exchange, Cincinnati received McCambley, a 27-year-old reliever originally selected by the Marlins in the third round of the 2020 draft out of Coastal Carolina.
McCambley has not yet reached the majors.
He converted from starter to reliever in 2023 and has posted consecutive minor league ERAs of 3.22, 3.97, 2.90, and 2.36.
He was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Rule 5 draft in December but was returned to Miami after failing to make the major league roster out of spring training.

This season with Triple-A Jacksonville, McCambley has 32 strikeouts in 26.2 innings, a 54 percent groundball rate, but has struggled with control, issuing 17 walks and hitting three batters.
