The Detroit Lions signed All-Pro linebacker Jack Campbell to a four-year contract extension on Thursday, May 21, 2026, keeping him with the franchise through the 2030 season.

The deal bypasses a standard fifth-year rookie option for 2027, which was projected at $21.95 million.

The Lions declined that option last month while picking up the option for Pro Bowl running back Jahmyr Gibbs, also a 2023 first-round pick.

Campbell, drafted 18th overall out of Iowa, has played in all 51 career games since entering the NFL.

He and Gibbs have helped Detroit secure 36 wins, two NFC North titles, and a conference championship appearance.

The linebacker is coming off a breakout 2025 season, earning AP first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.

He became the first NFL player in seven years to record over 150 tackles, at least five sacks, and three forced fumbles in a single season, finishing with 176 tackles and a league-leading 44 run stops, per Pro Football Focus.

The announcement was uniquely handled by a long-time season-ticket holder.

The strategy was developed earlier in the offseason by chief operating officer Mike Disner, chief communications and brand officer Brian Facchini, and vice president of communications Eamonn Reynolds.

Reynolds contacted season-ticket holder Sweta Patel at 1 p. m.

Thursday to orchestrate the social media reveal.
