Corinthians manager Fernando Diniz opted for a significant lineup rotation ahead of the Copa Libertadores Group E match against Peñarol on Thursday.

The Brazilian club, already qualified for the round of 16, aimed to secure the group's top spot while managing player fitness amid a challenging domestic campaign.

Key Lineup Changes

The rotated starting XI featured Hugo Souza, Pedro Milans, Gabriel Paulista, Gustavo Henrique, Fabrizio Angileri, Allan, André, Matheus Pereira, Kaio César, Pedro Raul, and Zakaria Labyad.

Only goalkeeper Hugo Souza, central defenders Gabriel Paulista, and Gustavo Henrique retained their regular positions.

Several regular starters, including Matheuzinho, Raniele, Breno Bidon, Rodrigo Garro, Jesse Lingard, and Yuri Alberto, began the match as substitutes.

Left-back Matheus Bidu missed the trip due to a left ankle sprain, forcing Fabrizio Angileri into the starting role.

Forward Memphis Depay, recovering from a thigh injury, also sat out after two months without play.

Other absences included defenders João Pedro Tchoca and Hugo, attackers Kayke and Vitinho, and midfielder Alex Santana, who was excluded from the tournament roster.
