Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Carson Beck drew significant media attention during organized team activities (OTAs) after a viral touchdown pass in 11-on-11 drills.

The third-round draft pick received increased practice repetitions as veteran Jacoby Brissett continued his contract holdout.

Beck currently remains behind Gardner Minshew on the depth chart under head coach Mike LaFleur.

Coaching Staff Impressed

Head coach Mike LaFleur noted that the rookie handled the transition to professional practice structure effectively during the session.

"I was impressed with him today in terms of just hearing the play calls," LaFleur said.

"It's the first time he's ever heard the mic going into his helmet."

The head coach added that communication clarity is often unpredictable for young players adjusting to the system.

"You never know how that's going to be. I thought he did a really good job of hearing me communicate," LaFleur said.

Wide receiver Michael Wilson acknowledged that initial nerves are common for rookies entering the NFL.

"I remember my first practice, like I was a little anxious and a little nervous, and that's okay," Wilson said.

Wilson stated that Beck performed well despite the natural emotional pressure of his first official team practice alongside veterans.

"He looked great for day one," Wilson said.

Media analyst Tom Pelissero questioned whether the positive reports serve as leverage regarding Brissett's contract status or reflect the coaching staff's genuine preference.
