Van Hoepen confirmed the strong form shown in early meetings by clinching the top spot at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

Drivers in the paddock addressed various competitive pressures ahead of Sunday's main event.

Antonelli on Expectations

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli shared his perspective on his strong start to the season and the growing expectations surrounding his performance.

"I know that the expectations are very high now, especially after our good start to the season, but I try not to worry too much," said the 19-year-old Italian driver.

Antonelli noted that his initial victory provided a significant confidence boost, though he acknowledged that the competitive field is rapidly closing the gap.

"I didn't expect to have such a strong start to the season, but I'm not complaining about it.

I'm just happy.

By winning my first race, it was like I broke the ice, as if I unlocked a new level," he explained.

Antonelli emphasized the necessity of maintaining progress across the lengthy racing calendar.

"We just want it to continue, for the bar to keep rising, because the competitors are getting closer," he added.
