New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has overhauled his physical conditioning and situational decision-making during the NFL offseason to address durability concerns following multiple head injury evaluations in his rookie year.

The dual-threat quarterback finished his inaugural season with a 4-13 record, completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions over 14 games.

Dart also rushed for 487 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 5.7 yards per carry.

However, his aggressive play style triggered four concussion tests and caused him to miss two full games.

New head coach John Harbaugh and the restructured coaching staff prioritized player availability by reviewing game film to analyze risk management during rushing plays.

Quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan initiated film studies at the start of the offseason program to alter how the former Ole Miss signal-caller protects himself on the field.

“Pulling up my tape and just going over situationally, is it worth the risk here in this situation.

That’s what we talk about a ton,” Dart said.

Leaner Frame for 17-Game Schedule

Dart clarified that although his weight remains similar to his rookie season, the franchise’s nutrition and strength programs helped him build a leaner frame to endure a 17-game schedule.

“I just think I’m just leaner, and our strength staff has done an amazing job.

When you just get into the league, there’s a little bit more resources that you have when it comes to a nutrition standpoint, building out a plan,” Dart said.

The adjustments directly target the time Dart spent away from the lineup during his rookie campaign, a period he expressed major frustration with during media availability.

“That was one of our first meetings with coach Callahan,” Dart added.

The coaching staff continues to emphasize situational awareness to ensure the sophomore quarterback balances his aggressive playmaking with longevity on the field.
