The No. 2 seed West Virginia Mountaineers will face the No. 3 seed Arizona State Sun Devils in the Big 12 Conference Tournament semifinals on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona.

Both teams are ranked in the top 25 nationally, with West Virginia at No. 9 and Arizona State at No. 21 in the D1 Baseball rankings.

Path to the Semifinals

West Virginia advanced by defeating No. 11 seed Kansas State 4-2 on Thursday night.

Gavin Kelly hit an early home run, and Big 12 Pitcher of the Year Maxx Yehl delivered a strong performance.

Arizona State reached the semifinal after a 10-2 win over Cincinnati on Thursday. The Sun Devils collected 12 hits and capitalized on four Cincinnati errors.

Key players to watch include West Virginia pitcher Chansen Cole and Arizona State slugger Landon Hairston, who set a program single-season record with his 28th home run in Thursday's game.

The teams met in a three-game regular season series in late March. Arizona State won the opener 14-4, but West Virginia took the final two games.

First pitch for the single-elimination game is scheduled for 11 p. m.
