New Scoring System Impact
The current campaign featured the debut of defensive contribution points, known as DefCon. This rewarded players for off-the-ball work.
According to Fantasy Football Scout, the new scoring pathway significantly altered asset value. It elevated defensive midfielders and center-backs who traditionally struggled to secure high scores.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes led all midfielders with 221 points after creating 132 chances and registering 20 assists.
Arsenal's David Raya secured the Golden Glove with 19 clean sheets and 162 total points.
His teammate Gabriel Magalhaes became the only defender to surpass the 200-point mark this season.
The introduction of the new rule sparked debate among former champions regarding how structural adjustments alter player recruitment and transfer strategies.
Simon March, former Fantasy Premier League champion, said his initial skepticism proved incorrect as the mechanic shifted tactical approaches.
"Everyone loves a DefCon until Daniel Munoz smashes a 15-pointer," March said.
