“Two years ago, Max had two pitches: a great slider and a fastball that wasn’t very good,” said president of baseball operations Peter Bendix.
“The current version has a better fastball, a two-seamer that’s really good, still has that awesome slider, a sweeper that’s probably even better, and one of the best changeups in baseball.
He is a true five-pitch guy.”
Offensively, catcher Liam Hicks supported Meyer by hitting two solo home runs off Mets pitcher Freddy Peralta.
Hicks broke a month-long batting slump and secured his first career multi-homer game.
“It’s awesome to see him still just go out there and compete and be unbelievable,” Hicks said of Meyer.
