The Brazilian noted that he focused on elevating his aggressiveness during key service and return games to handle the pressure.

"I think trying to be more aggressive in the returns and plus one and same in the serves.

His return is unbelievable, so for me it was difficult to hold my serve," Fonseca added.

During his on-court interview, the South American player expressed his immense respect for the veteran competitor.

It's a pleasure just stepping on the court against him, and it's my first time stepping on the court against him.

So just thanking him, and yeah, just very happy. I was just trying to hit the ball as fast as I could.

I mean, Djokovic is… You just don't make it. We still think he's 20, so," Fonseca said.

In his post-match press conference, Djokovic credited the young player for delivering an exceptional performance during the critical moments of the match.

"He just found incredible shots, lines… I don't think I did too much wrong, he was just better," Djokovic admitted.

Analyzing the performance on his "Served" podcast, former world No. 1 Andy Roddick dismissed claims that the outcome was simply a result of the 39-year-old veteran fading due to his age.

"Look at the stats for Novak: he got 71% of his first serves in, and by the way, he's one of the best in the world at defending his second serve.
