That's pretty accurate!" he said.

"The whole point of that team was a collective."

The 5,000-1 title triumph remains one of the largest underdog achievements in modern sports history. Schmeichel believes it provided global inspiration.

"Any underdog story is a great story," he said. "It gave hope to many people that sport is still a very competitive thing."

Early Career and Rise to the Top

Before achieving top-flight success, Schmeichel experienced loan spells at Darlington, Bury, and Falkirk while under contract at Manchester City.

He later moved to the Championship for loan periods with Cardiff City and Coventry City to rebuild his career.

During the historic 2015-16 season, Schmeichel secured 15 clean sheets across 38 league matches to help Leicester City claim the domestic crown.

He drew inspiration from his father, Peter Schmeichel, who won Euro 1992 with Denmark and multiple Premier League titles with Manchester United.

"92 was the reason that I never thought anything was impossible," Schmeichel said. "That was instilled in me from five years old."

Schmeichel recalled a moment in 2013 when he publicly declared his ambition to win the Premier League.
