Liverpool have established a clear strategy for defensive recruitment in the upcoming summer transfer window, following the departures of Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate.
The two first-team defenders are leaving Anfield upon the expiration of their contracts this month, after a season where injuries severely depleted the Reds' backline.
These exits are partially offset by the scheduled arrival of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes and the return of Kostas Tsimikas from a loan spell at AS Roma.
Right-Back a Priority
Journalist James Pearce addressed the club's marketplace priorities in a Liverpool Transfer DealSheet for The Athletic.
Pearce noted that right-back is a position "that needs addressing" due to the serious knee injury suffered by Conor Bradley and the concerning fitness record of Jeremie Frimpong.
However, the Merseyside club is not expected to secure a new left-back this summer despite Robertson's exit.
Tsimikas is "set to provide cover" for first-choice Milos Kerkez.
Regarding central defense, club sources currently emphasize that they have larger priorities to resolve elsewhere in the squad.
