Reports from NFL insider Jason LaCanfora suggest the young quarterback may want out following Murray's signing.
An unnamed general manager told LaCanfora, "I think he wants out of there. I think he's wanted out of there since they signed Murray.
Those personalities are not going to be a good fit."
McCarthy's own comments at OTAs fueled speculation.
He compared the situation to two students in a classroom, saying, "He sits on one side, I sit on the other side...
It's a true competition."
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk questioned whether McCarthy can handle being a backup. "Will he be resentful?

Florio wondered, suggesting a trade to the Los Angeles Chargers, where his former college coach Jim Harbaugh resides.
Despite the rumors, ESPN's Dan Graziano argued against trading McCarthy. "It doesn't make a lot of sense to trade him.
The Vikings have already paid 70% of McCarthy's rookie contract," he wrote, noting that Murray's injury history makes him far from a guaranteed fix.
