However, the move could not be finalized immediately because Orozco was under the age of 18, which required him to remain with his current side.
The Manchester Evening News confirmed the upcoming arrival, stating, "Manchester United will complete the signing of teenage midfielder Cristian Orozco next month."
The publication further revealed that the youngster has already familiarized himself with his future surroundings.
"Orozco was welcomed to Manchester in December and shown around Carrington and Old Trafford, and the youngster’s trip included a taste of training sessions with United’s academy teams."
Recruitment Strategy Shift Under INEOS
The recruitment strategy at Old Trafford has shifted significantly under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS since they assumed operational control of the club in February 2024.
The new leadership prioritizes acquiring the brightest talents in global football rather than focusing exclusively on established superstars.
United views these acquisitions as low-risk, high-reward investments with distinct first-team potential.

Over the past few transfer windows, this philosophy has brought players like Sekou Kone, Diego Leon, Ayden Heaven, Leny Yoro, Patrick Dorgu, and Chido Obi to the club.
Orozco fits directly into this recruitment profile.
The defensive midfielder is widely regarded as one of Colombia's top prospects, having played a vital role last year in leading his nation to the final of the U17 South American Championship.
According to the Manchester Evening News, it was Orozco's standout performances during that specific international tournament that initially caught the attention of Manchester United scouts and sparked the club's transfer interest.
The teenager also possesses valuable senior experience from his time at Fortaleza CEIF.
He earned a spot in 11 matchday squads last season, making four appearances, including two starts and two substitute outings.
Upon arriving in England, Orozco is expected to follow a development pathway similar to the ones established for recent signings Kone and Leon.
