The Montreal Alouettes have placed University of Rhode Island quarterback Devin Farrell on their exclusive negotiation list, strengthening their future quarterback depth.
The move was announced ahead of the team's July 26, 2026, home game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Percival Molson Stadium.

Farrell, a six-foot, 195-pound redshirt senior from Stockbridge, Georgia, posted strong numbers in his previous collegiate season.
He completed 267 of 410 passes for 3,745 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions over 14 starts for the Rams.
He also added 78 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Under Canadian Football League rules, teams can claim rights to up to 45 non-Canadian or non-Global players on a first-come, first-served basis.
Players on the negotiation list are not required to sign immediately and may be traded or released at any time.
On the field, the Alouettes entered the division rivalry with a 5-1 record after a 38-32 win over the Calgary Stampeders.

Quarterback Davis Alexander leads Montreal's passing attack, throwing for over 300 yards in every appearance while maintaining a streak of 336 consecutive pass attempts without an interception.
Hamilton arrived with a 3-3 record after a 24-23 victory over the Toronto Argonauts.
The Tiger-Cats started backup quarterback Tre Ford for his second straight appearance following ankle surgery for regular starter Bo Levi Mitchell.
In his prior outing, Ford threw for 218 yards and rushed for 109 yards to help Hamilton beat Toronto.
