Germany has begun on-field preparations in Chicago for their final World Cup warm-up match against the United States.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was seen in training after the German Football Federation (DFB) released footage of him doing specialized drills, noting he was "continuing to build up the intensity."

Neuer's Comeback Uncertain

The 40-year-old World Cup winner was recalled to the national squad two years after retiring internationally and was named first-choice goalkeeper.

However, a recent calf muscle injury has sidelined him, leaving his participation in Saturday's friendly or the World Cup opener against Curaçao on June 14 in doubt.

Forward Kai Havertz confirmed Neuer was on the pitch during the session. "I don't know whether he took part in everything.

But he was certainly on the pitch," Havertz said.

Havertz and Tactical Decisions

Havertz arrived at the German camp in Chicago on Tuesday after Arsenal lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann is expected to deploy Havertz as the main striker for the match at Soldier Field.

The friendly may clarify tactical choices, such as whether teenager Lennart Karl or Leroy Sané starts on the right wing, and if Nathaniel Brown or David Raum plays left-back.

Karl and Brown received praise for their strong performances in recent weeks and during Sunday's 4-0 win over Finland.

Havertz emphasized team unity regardless of the final squad. "We have to work together as a team.

And in that, everyone needs everyone else. Some will play more, others less.

But everyone has to be there when they're needed," he said.
