Investigation and Road Closure
The incident occurred at the Kinzigtal rest stop on the A66 in the direction of Fulda, between the Gelnhausen West and Gelnhausen East interchanges.
The access road to the rest area was closed while recovery operations and investigative work continued.
Police said the closure affected access to the rest stop but did not disrupt traffic on the A66 itself.
A traffic accident expert was called in to help reconstruct the sequence of events and establish the precise cause of the collision.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash, including how the truck struck the pedestrian as the vehicle moved off.
Authorities have not announced a final determination of responsibility.
Police are seeking witnesses who saw the collision or have relevant information.
Witnesses can contact the South East Hesse Highway Police Station at 06181 9010-0 or 06181 90100.
As of October 16, the entrance to the Kinzigtal rest stop remained closed, and the investigation into the fatal incident was ongoing.
