The Philadelphia Phillies swept the San Diego Padres with a 6-4 victory on Thursday, moving past them in the National League wild-card standings.

Zack Wheeler allowed just two hits over seven innings, and Adolis García hit his first home run in nearly a month to lead the Phillies to the win.

The sweep adds to the frustration in the Padres' clubhouse. Third baseman Manny Machado acknowledged the disappointment, saying, "People are frustrated.

The fans want us to win games. So do we.

We're more frustrated than anybody."

Machado emphasized the team's determination to turn things around, noting that despite the losing streak, they remain in a good position.

External observers have questioned the Padres' roster depth beyond their elite bullpen.

Braves writer Scott Coleman commented, "The Padres are pretty fraudulent outside of an elite back of the bullpen."

San Diego's relief pitchers, including Mason Miller and Adrian Morejon, have continued to perform well, but the rest of the team is still seeking consistency under a relatively new coaching staff.
