The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) has rescheduled the third-round Eredivisie matches for Ajax and FC Twente to September.
The adjustment was announced during the publication of the provisional league schedule on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

This change aims to give both clubs optimal preparation time for their upcoming European competition fixtures.
According to RTL, Dutch clubs participating in European tournaments were allowed to state their preferred playing days and kickoff times around those continental matches.
The third round of the domestic league falls directly between European play-off ties. Both Ajax and FC Twente chose to use this option to avoid scheduling conflicts.

New Match Dates
As a result, neither team will play a home match during the weekend of August 22 and 23.
Their fixtures have been pushed back to September.
FC Twente is now scheduled to host Telstar on September 9. Ajax will face Willem II in Amsterdam on September 15.

Meanwhile, NEC retains its original home fixture against Excelsior on August 22. However, the KNVB may also reschedule this match if NEC advances to the Champions League play-offs.
