Bovensiepen, the new German tuning firm founded by the same family behind Alpina, has revealed its second model: the 05 GT.

Based on the BMW 5-Series Touring, this high-performance estate packs a surprising punch under its restrained exterior.

The 05 GT shares its powertrain with the BMW M5 Touring.

It uses a plug-in hybrid 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 790 hp and 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque, up from the M5's 718 hp and 738 lb-ft.

Bovensiepen achieved the extra power through a new air intake, a titanium Akrapovic exhaust, and software tweaks.

The estate accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h).

It weighs 5,632 lbs (2,555 kg), just 11 lbs more than the M5 Touring.

Design and Interior

Car design legend Frank Stephenson helped create the 05 GT's understated look.

The front features a new bumper with a sportier shape and a mesh grille with a large Bovensiepen emblem.

It rides on 21-inch, 20-spoke forged wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires developed specifically for this car.

Side skirts are new, and the rear gets a roof spoiler, a refined bumper, and quad tailpipes.

The overall appearance is reminiscent of Alpina products, which is fitting given the company's heritage.

Inside, the seats are re-trimmed in Lavalina leather sourced from selected farms in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.

The steering wheel is also upholstered in plush leather, and buyers can choose from various leather colors.

Other performance upgrades include tweaked suspension with Eibach springs, modified support bearings, and a strut tower brace.
