The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has set a new benchmark for gasoline-powered production cars, completing the quarter-mile in 8.54 seconds at 190 mph (305 km/h).

The Swedish hypercar manufacturer achieved the run during recent testing at its headquarters, using an updated transmission and launch control system.

While the overall production car quarter-mile record belongs to the all-electric Rimac Nevera R at 7.9 seconds, the Jesko Absolut is the first combustion-engined car to exceed 186 mph (300 km/h) over the distance.

Notably, the Jesko is rear-wheel drive and achieved its time on an unprepped surface, unlike the all-wheel-drive Rimac.

Record-Breaking Performance

During the same run, the Jesko Absolut accelerated from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.35 seconds, as verified by Racelogic.

It reached 124 mph (200 km/h) in 4.88 seconds and broke through 186 mph (300 km/h) in just 8.30 seconds.

The car also covered the half-mile in 12.76 seconds at 232 mph (373 km/h).

Koenigsegg has improved the transmission's shift logic and launch control software. An over-the-air update will be rolled out to Jesko owners, bringing these enhancements to their cars.

The company quotes a theoretical top speed of 330 mph (531 km/h) for the Jesko Absolut, though it has yet to be tested at that velocity.
