Austria thought they had regained the lead in the 69th minute when Marko Arnautovic scored from a goalmouth scramble, but the goal was disallowed for handball by teammate Stefan Posch after a VAR review.
Seven minutes later, Austria reclaimed the lead when Yazan Al-Arab accidentally deflected a corner kick from Marcel Sabitzer into his own net.
Deep into stoppage time, Arnautovic sealed the win by converting a penalty after Salim Obaid was penalized for handball.
