Arkansas Razorbacks guard Meleek Thomas is climbing NBA draft boards following impressive pre-draft workouts ahead of the 2026 selection event, according to league sources.

The 19-year-old prospect is receiving strong consideration from teams picking in the late teens and early 20s, Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reported.

Calipari Backs His Former Guard

Arkansas head coach John Calipari expressed strong belief in Thomas, suggesting professional franchises might be undervaluing the freshman's true potential.

Calipari took to social media to highlight the attributes Thomas brings to the professional level.

“I think he will be selected a little bit lower than people think,” Calipari said.

The veteran coach emphasized the offensive versatility that allowed Thomas to average 15.6 points and shoot 41.6% from three-point range during his freshman campaign.

“He's an unbelievable shot maker, basket maker in all kinds of different ways,” Calipari said.

Calipari also noted Thomas's relentless work ethic and mental fortitude.

“The biggest thing, his energy, his ability to stay in front of people and pressure the ball,” he said.

According to the coach, Thomas's dedication behind the scenes is the foundation for his on-court presence.

“He lives in the gym. You talk about a gym rat,” Calipari said.

Calipari projected continued growth for the SEC All-Freshman team selection.

“Meleek Thomas is only going to get better and better. I'm excited about his future in that league,” he said.
