The Charlotte Hornets have selected Texas Tech point guard Christian Anderson with the 18th overall pick in the NBA Draft.

The move aims to bolster the team's perimeter shooting and pick-and-roll playmaking.

Anderson, who stands under 6 feet 1 inch and weighs 180 pounds, is expected to provide depth behind starting guard LaMelo Ball.

He is known for his long-range scoring ability, particularly off the dribble and from beyond the professional three-point line.

The rookie guard will be reunited with his German national team teammate, center Hannes Steinbach.

Steinbach praised Anderson's skills, calling him "a great point guard who can really pass and create his own shot."

Offensive Strengths and Defensive Concerns

While Anderson's shooting is highly rated, analysts have noted potential defensive vulnerabilities due to his slight frame.

The Hornets currently lack strong perimeter defenders, which could make Anderson a target for opponents early in his career.

Inside the paint, Anderson shot 72.4 percent at the basket, though on a low volume of 3.4 attempts per 100 possessions.

Without a ball screen, he struggled to create consistent pressure at the rim due to limited physical burst and creative handling.

The selection signals the Hornets' commitment to an offense centered on high-volume three-point shooting and offensive rebounding.

Anderson will join a rotation that includes Moussa Diabate and could serve as a backup regardless of whether the team re-signs free agent Coby White.

Charlotte chose Anderson over several other perimeter prospects still available, including Koa Peat, Cameron Carr, Labaron Philon, and Allen Graves.
