The Colorado Avalanche selected forward Yegor Shilov with the 43rd overall pick in the second round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday, as reported by CBS Sports.
Shilov joins the Avalanche organization after a standout rookie season in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

The Russian-born prospect previously developed his skills in the United States Hockey League (USHL) after playing youth hockey on Long Island.
Shilov earned the QMJHL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He led all first-year players in scoring with 82 points across 63 games.

Scouts describe him as a highly creative offensive talent with an excellent wrist shot. However, his defensive play requires further development.
Shilov recently changed his collegiate plans. He shifted his commitment from Boston University to Penn State.

He will spend one final season in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) before officially joining the Nittany Lions program in the fall of 2027.
