David Alonso won his first Moto2 race of the season at the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

The Aspar Team rider executed a decisive overtake on the final chicane to beat championship leader Manu Gonzalez.

Race Highlights at TT Circuit Assen

Alberto Fernandez initially led from the front row, which also included Alonso and Izan Guevara. Veteran rider Daniel Holgado later reshuffled the top positions.

Early crashes took out Dani Munoz and Celestino Vietti before the third lap. The field then began to stretch as Alonso increased the pace.

Gonzalez, who started seventh, steadily advanced and passed Alonso at turn five on lap 17.

That allowed Senna Agius to join the lead group, creating a brief three-way battle.

On the final lap, Gonzalez took a defensive line.

Alonso used his momentum through the final chicane to take the checkered flag ahead of Gonzalez and Agius.

Gonzalez retains the championship lead with 20 points over second place. Alonso moves up to fourth in the standings.
