Canadian streaming service Crave has ordered a new queer sports mockumentary comedy series titled Slo Pitch, set to premiere in 2026.

The 10-episode half-hour show follows a beer league softball team called The Public Lass Brovaries.

It is directed by J Stevens and written by Gwenlyn Cumyn and Karen Knox, with production completed in November 2025.

The series expands on a previous web series that aired on OutTV and IFC.

It tracks an underdog team managed by a coach trying to move on from a recent breakup with the team co-founder.

Cast and Comparisons

The cast includes Schitt's Creek star Emily Hampshire and Frasier actress Jess Salgueiro, along with a guest appearance by Canadian women's baseball trailblazer Ayami Sato.

During a red carpet interview at the Bell Media Upfronts, the cast addressed comparisons to the series Heated Rivalry.

Karen Knox noted, "It's a little bit different. A few less makeout scenes — there's a couple."

Knox added, "Well, I would argue that they're as hot as the ones in Heated Rivalry."

The creators emphasized the intensely competitive and passionate tone despite the comedic lens.

Discussing the grounded, unglamorous nature of the beer league setting, Knox said, "If you like hot dog breath, then this is your kind of makeout."

Jess Salgueiro contrasted the aesthetic with typical high-stakes dramas: "Less sloppy, less six packs, too." Knox summed it up: "Less six packs, more sloppy."

The production team used social media to announce the network pickup earlier this year, posting on X: "HELLO.

WE USED TO BE A WEBSERIES. NOW WE ARE A HALF HOUR COMEDY ABOUT BEER, LESBIANS, AND BASEBALL DROPPING ON @CraveCanada IN 2026."

As reported by Fangirlish, the series has yet to secure a formal distribution agreement for broadcast in the United States.
